PPL and PRS support the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 40th Anniversary Celebrations

The UK’s two licensing bodies involved in ensuring that composers and performers are rewarded for their work in music have joined the list of organisations and individuals supporting this year’s Gramophone Classical Music Awards. 

The 2017 Gramophone Classical Music Awards are taking place on September 13 at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London, and will mark 40 years since the first event (which took place in 1977). Live music will feature largely and a number of previous award winners will return to perform. The event will once again be streamed live by medici.tv, and the Awards hopes to build on last year’s viewership of 35,000.

PPL and PRS for Music will jointly support a Special Achievement Award, which will be made to an individual whose role in the championing of new music has few equals today.

PPL and PRS for Music work to support the most integral parts of the music industry: the creation and performance of music. Collectively, the two organisations represent the rights of songwriters, composers, publishers, record labels and performers the world over, ensuring they are fairly paid whenever their music is played or reproduced in public.
